Special Greetings to Supporters:
We reported that on Monday, October 6, 2014, Imam Jamil had been moved to Canaan USP, in Waymart, PA. We can report today that he is in general population.
Our voices were heard that he should not be placed again in solitary confinement--a custody placement that never was warranted by the Bureau of Prisons.
We thank you again for joining us in the campaign that made this possible.
We will continue to monitor Imam Jamil's health conditions, and to work for his freedom to bring him home. We certainly will keep everyone informed.

Urgent call To Action
URGENT CALL TO ACTION!
DO NOT SEND Jamil Al-AMIN BACK TO SUPERMAX
Imam Jamil has smoldering myeloma, which is an inactive form of multiple myeloma. Individuals with smoldering myeloma generally are monitored without receiving treatment, although there are studies that indicate early intervention with medication could prevent the progression to active multiple myeloma.
The physicians at Butner FMC have not recommended that Imam Jamil receive any medication for his smoldering myeloma. They agree that he should be monitored and tested every two to three months to determine any progression of his condition. Imam Jamil has other medical conditions, which have not been addressed adequately at the Butner FMC.
1. Ask that Jamil Al-Amin is NOT returned to Florence ADX, and Request that he is NOT placed in solitary confinement because of his chronic medical state.
2. Request that Jamil Al-Amin is held - pending his appeals - at Butner, NC or a Georgia state facility to have access to his team of attorneys.
3. Request close monitoring and exploration of treatment for Jamil Al-Amin's medical conditions.

Update On Imam Jamil Al-Amin's Medical Condition
Re: Update on Imam Jamil Al-Amin’s Medical Condition
Reg. No. 99974-555
Date: September 15, 2014
For two months, Imam Jamil Al-Amin has undergone tests at the Butner FMC as a result of our successful campaign to have him transferred out of the Florence ADX to the federal medical center.
The campaign was necessary to bring attention to his failing medical health that the Florence ADX continued to ignore. For those who joined us in advocating on behalf of Imam Jamil, and to those who have sent letters and cards to him, we continue to extend our appreciation.
We are able to report that Imam Jamil has smoldering myeloma, which is an inactive form of multiple myeloma. They agree that he should be monitored and tested every two to three months to determine if his condition has progressed; then and only then would he receive aggressive treatment if the test results reveal he has active multiple myeloma.
Although Imam Jamil has other medical conditions, which we feel have not been addressed adequately at the Butner FMC, he is “awaiting transfer.” In this regard, we plan to do the following and ask you again to join us in raising our collective voices to prevent another injustice:

Update August 7, 2014
Update on Biopsy Results for Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin
On July 23, 2014, at the Butner FMC, Imam Jamil had a bone marrow biopsy to determine the presence of myeloma cells. Yesterday, Kairi and I visited with him at Butner, and today he was told by the Butner medical staff that the biopsy results revealed “some myeloma cells.” He was told he needed to be monitored and tested every two to three months to determine if his condition has advanced to the full multiple myeloma stage. He would not remain at the hospital and could be monitored at another facility. The pre-cursor condition is called monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS). This raises the issue that more than likely he will be returned to Florence ADX until he has another episode. The sunlight has helped him at Butner, but I still am worried about his weight loss and the fact that he would be moved out of Butner so quickly. We are working tomorrow to contact Congressional reps, although many are away on vacations. The thought is that if he is moved back, it will be difficult to get him back out of Florence short of his becoming deathly ill. We will have to go public once again with the BOP’s decision to return him to the same institution that failed to recognize his medical condition until public pressure was exerted. He needs to be close to medical providers who are skilled with monitoring his condition, and Florence ADX lacks that capability. Meanwhile, we are working on obtaining his medical records from Butner, so that we can involve our physicians in evaluating the findings, making recommendations, and monitoring Imam Jamil’s condition. Let us know your thoughts.

Emergency Committee On Humanitarian Aid For Jamil Al-Amin aka H. "Rap" Brown
Dear Friends,
Even-though we were initially jubilant about our success in having Jamil Al-Amin/ H. "Rap' Brown moved to a medical facility, we were already aware that our work was not finished. We have every reason to fear that he may be returned to solitary confinement or/ and back to Colorado. We cannot allow that to happen. Drawing from the people who came together in Jackson and their circles, we have formed the Emergency Committee on Humanitarian Aid for Jamil Al- Amin/ H. "Rap" Brown. We are creating a committee of medical people to send the attached letter to the director of prisons. Please remember that this is not an argument about the innocence or guilt of Jamil; it is about the inhumanity of keeping a person in solitary confinement for 13 years and denying him medical care.
We are writing for two reasons. If you know of medical people who would be willing to sign the letter, please contact them, show them the letter and have the person email me atfrushing@ben.edu. If you are willing to have your name listed as a member of the committee, email me with that information. Both are urgent. We want to fax the first letter to the director tomorrow or the next day at the latest. This will be an ongoing campaign.
If you know someone who might sign the letter and you cannot get them today, please continue to try and get them. We will be sending more than one letter. We need to make the state realize that there is a broad base of support for this case.
Thanks,
Fannie Rushing

In 2007, Georgia prison officials moved Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, without notice, 1400 miles away to USP ADMAX (supermax prison) in Florence, Colorado. Isolation, sensor deprivation, sensory overload and inhumane conditions are the norm in superemax prisons, especially in Florence. Under these conditions his health has deteriorated.
He waited 10 months to see a dentist and after seeing one, his condition worsened. Subsequently, he waited an additional five months after submitting a dental request to see another. After obtaining test results in June of 2014, Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin #99974-555 needs to obtain an immediate transfer to the best suited federal medical center designed to perform a bone marrow biopsy and determine the best course of treatment.
We, the undersigned are requesting that he obtain an immediate transfer to the best suited federal medical center designed to perform a bone marrow biopsy and determine the best course of treatment. Jamil Al-Amin's grave condition requires high specialization and we are demanding that the objective standards are met. Imam Jamil Al-Amin currently experiences serious and substantial risks to his health. These problems are obviously visible within his lack of desires to recreation, difficulty in eating, rapid weight loss, difficulties in breathing and carrying out normal daily functions. His feet are swollen, top and bottom, he remains lethargic, and is in need of an urgent medical transfer to the best suited federal medical center designed to perform a bone marrow biopsy and determine the best course of treatment.
We request that Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin #99974-555 be transferred to a federal medical center for all the above stated reasons.

This Is A Summary of visit by Imam Khalil with Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin
The following was submitted as: Summation of Recent Visit With Imam Jamil Al-Amin by Imam Khalil
Update: Wed, Jun 25, 2014 at 11:07 AM
Imam Jamil sends his greetings to all Muslims and to those who do good, to those he knows, and to those he does not know.
He expresses his thankfulness, gratitude, and appreciation to everyone whose efforts have contributed to raising awareness to his declining health, and for the concern shown by the massive call in campaign.
His spiritual state is good, at an all-time high, and so is his mental state; it is a sharp as a tack.
However, his physical condition is steadily declining. He has lost as much as 30 pounds. His feet are still swollen, top and bottom, and painful. He is having difficulty walking and sleeping; he is weak, and he wakes up tired. He is still not available to exercise. He just sits and lays down, day in and day out.
He has not seen an MD, nor an orthodontist; only a dentist, which is a general practioner, and an MDs assistant.
He asks that everyone continue their humanitarian efforts to demand that he gets urgent and accurate medical treatment and to be transferred to a more suitable medical facility."
The Struggle Continues. Thank you. Imam Khalil

URGENT Call To Action
H. Rap Brown In Declining Health; Supporters Demand Medical Attention
By Harold Michael Harvey, J.D.
"The 1960s radical H. Rap Brown, currently serving a life sentence without parole for the murder of a Fulton County, Georgia Deputy Sheriff, is now facing deteriorating health issues.
Brown, a 70-year-old Muslim cleric, now goes by the name of Jamil Al-Amin. He is serving time at a federal institution, the ADX Florence Supermax Prison in Florence, Colorado, despite being convicted of state crimes.
According to a statement released by the National Black Alliance Network, Al-Amin “needs emergency medical care without delay, in accordance with federal prison standards. His life is at risk.”
This week, NBAN released an update of Al-Amin’s status. As of Sunday night, June 8, 2014, Al-Amin suffered from an abscess on each side of his mouth, which has caused “… an inability to breathe and the total shutdown of his body.”
A dentist recently removed a broken tooth and Al-Amin is unable to eat. He is reported to be too weak to walk and his feet are swollen on both the top and the bottom.
Al-Amin’s supporters contend that he has not received adequate medical treatment. They cite a recent visit by a physician of Nigerian lineage, who “talked to him through a cell door.”
Supporters are calling for mass protests and for a telephone campaign to demand that Al-Amin receive adequate medical attention. On Monday of this week, the group held a rally in front of the Bureau of Prisons headquarters in the District of Columbia.
El-Hajj Mauri’ Saalakhan said his group has three demands for the BOP: 1. “Immediate medical attention for inmate Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin (Reg # 99974-555)”
2. “A transfer to the prison medical facility located in Butner, North Carolina”
3. “A review of imprisonment policies relevant to the prisoners being housed under extraordinary conditions, such as the Supermax in Florence, Colorado, and the so-called ‘Controlled Management Units’ in different parts of the country.”
Al-Amin, who once said that “violence is as American as apple pie,” has been in jail since March 24, 2000. He was arrested in the shooting death of a Fulton County, Georgia Deputy Sheriff, who was attempting to serve an arrest warrant issued by a Cobb County, Georgia judge. He was apprehended dressed in full-body armor, in Green County, Alabama, where he had organized voter rights marches in the mid-1960s as Chairman of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee. In the vicinity of his arrest, the authorities found, his bullet-riddled automobile and two guns later linked to the death of the Deputy Sheriff. After his conviction, Al-Amin was initially housed in a maximum security facility in Georgia, but in 2007, state prison authorities feared they could not withstand an escape attempt, and he was whisked away via helicopter in the middle of the night to the Supermax in Colorado.
His supporters counter that Al-Amin had become very popular with the other inmates and the Georgia authorities feared Al-Amin, ever the community organizer, would lead an inmate protest over living conditions. For the past seven years, Al-Amin has been subjected to enforced isolation and its twin, “sensory deprivation,” from the lack of adequate sunlight. During a brief period of time, when SNCC had joined forces with the Black Panther Party, Al-Amin served the group as Minister of Justice. Now his followers are seeking justice in the manner in which his medical condition is being treated.
