We reported that on Monday, October 6, 2014, Imam Jamil had been moved to Canaan USP, in Waymart, PA. We can report today that he is in general population.
Our voices were heard that he should not be placed again in solitary confinement--a custody placement that never was warranted by the Bureau of Prisons.
We thank you again for joining us in the campaign that made this possible.
We will continue to monitor Imam Jamil's health conditions, and to work for his freedom to bring him home. We certainly will keep everyone informed.

Jamil Al-Amin #99974-555, formerly known as H.Rap Brown, was wrongfully convicted in The State of Georgia. Imam Jamil was housed in solitary confinement at Supermax in Florence,Colorado for seven years. He was transferred to Canaan USP, in Waymart, PA but, is now in Tucson Arizona.

Imam Jamil Al-Amin, is listed on the Federal Bureau of Prisons Website, this morning at Canaan USP, in Waymart, Pennsylvania which is a high security prison which is 20 miles east of Scranton.

Imam Jamil has smoldering myeloma, which is an inactive form of multiple myeloma. Individuals with smoldering myeloma generally are monitored without receiving treatment, although there are studies that indicate early intervention with medication could prevent the progression to active multiple myeloma.
The physicians at Butner FMC have not recommended that Imam Jamil receive any medication for his smoldering myeloma. They agree that he should be monitored and tested every two to three months to determine any progression of his condition. Imam Jamil has other medical conditions, which have not been addressed adequately at the Butner FMC.
1. Ask that Jamil Al-Amin is NOT returned to Florence ADX, and Request that he is NOT placed in solitary confinement because of his chronic medical state.
2. Request that Jamil Al-Amin is held - pending his appeals - at Butner, NC or a Georgia state facility to have access to his team of attorneys.
3. Request close monitoring and exploration of treatment for Jamil Al-Amin's medical conditions.

For two months, Imam Jamil Al-Amin has undergone tests at the Butner FMC as a result of our successful campaign to have him transferred out of the Florence ADX to the federal medical center.
The campaign was necessary to bring attention to his failing medical health that the Florence ADX continued to ignore. For those who joined us in advocating on behalf of Imam Jamil, and to those who have sent letters and cards to him, we continue to extend our appreciation.
We are able to report that Imam Jamil has smoldering myeloma, which is an inactive form of multiple myeloma. - and continue to urge close monitoring and exploration of treatment for Jamil Al-Amin’s medical conditions.

Update on Biopsy Results for Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin
On July 23, 2014, at the Butner FMC, Imam Jamil had a bone marrow biopsy to determine the presence of myeloma cells. Yesterday, Kairi and I visited with him at Butner, and today he was told by the Butner medical staff that the biopsy results revealed “some myeloma cells.” He was told he needed to be monitored and tested every two to three months to determine if his condition has advanced to the full multiple myeloma stage. He would not remain at the hospital and could be monitored at another facility. The pre-cursor condition is called monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS). This raises the issue that more than likely he will be returned to Florence ADX until he has another episode. The sunlight has helped him at Butner, but I still am worried about his weight loss and the fact that he would be moved out of Butner so quickly. We are working tomorrow to contact Congressional reps, although many are away on vacations. The thought is that if he is moved back, it will be difficult to get him back out of Florence short of his becoming deathly ill. We will have to go public once again with the BOP’s decision to return him to the same institution that failed to recognize his medical condition until public pressure was exerted. He needs to be close to medical providers who are skilled with monitoring his condition, and Florence ADX lacks that capability. Meanwhile, we are working on obtaining his medical records from Butner, so that we can involve our physicians in evaluating the findings, making recommendations, and monitoring Imam Jamil’s condition.
